G. Valiño obtained an MSc in Industrial Engineering and a PhD from the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 1994 and 2004 respectively. He worked for three years in the metalworking sector before joining the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Oviedo as Associate Lecturer in 1998, reaching the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2006. He has been engaged in a number of research activities related to automation and manufacturing process planning, as well as the integration of inspection and digitizing sensors in production machines. He is currently involved in improving the precision of AM processes. He has participated as principal investigator in two of these projects and as co-principal investigator in the one currently under development. He has also published more than 50 works including papers in indexed journals and conferences. He is member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), the Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SIF) and collaborates as reviewer with several international journals.

Projects: On-machine geometric inspection by means of Conoscopic Holography applied to freeform surfaces generated by milling, Application of Conoscopic Holography Sensors for on CNC-Machines Inspection of Machined Surfaces", Real-time Compensation of Layer Geometry Errors for Additive Manufacturing Processes
