G. Valiño received the MSc in industrial engineering and the PhD degree from the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 1994 and 2004 respectively. He worked as industrial engineer for two companies in the metalworking sector during 2.5 years until he entered the University of Oviedo in 1998 as Associate Lecturer. He reached the rank of Senior Lecturer in 1996 and has been working for the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Oviedo since then. He developed different research activities in the field of automation and planning of manufacturing processes and implementation and integration of contact and non-contact inspection and digitizing sensors in different equipment and production machines. He is now involved in a project aiming at the integration between dimensional inspection and additive manufacturing in order to improve quality of parts manufactured by FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication). Moreover, he has participated in numerous research projects since 1998, being the principal investigator in two of them and the co-principal in the last one. He has also published more than 45 works including articles in indexed journals and conference papers. He is currently member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), the Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SIF) and collaborates as reviewer for several international journals.
