JC Rico received the MSc in Industrial engineering and the PhD degree from the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 1985 and 1990 respectively. Since 1996 he works as Full Professor for the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Oviedo. In his research activity he worked in the field of automation and manufacturing process planning. His current area of interest is focused on the implementation and integration of contact and non-contact inspection and scanning sensors in different equipment and production machines. He has participated in numerous research projects since 1986; in many of them as principal investigator. He has supervised 6 PhD theses and published over 100 works including articles in indexed journals and conference papers. He is member of the Spanish Association of Mechanical Engineering and reviwer for several international journals.
